I’d like to share a great lecture: The cancer stem cell hypothesis: biological and clinical implications , given by Max Wicha in 99th annual American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) meeting, held in April 2008.

Max Wicha – Professor, Director, University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center.

His team discovered that functional/metabolic marker, besides surface molecules, can be also used for identification of breast cancer stem cells. For instance, they did a lot of work for validation of ALDH (aldehyde dehydrogenase) as a good alternative cancer stem cell marker.
